I want you to come to Christ for the joy of knowing Christ who is God and to know how great the forgiveness of your sins can be. You, a sinner, can be forgiven of the multitude of your crimes against a Holy God and given a clean slate because of Jesus Christ and the substitutionary death and atonement on the cross. God, the Father poured out His wrath on Christ instead of you. And Christ bore your sin – if you come to Him in faith and repentance. Jesus paid it all. He died, was buried, and rose on the third day. As the Scripture says: Psalm 118:1 ...For His lovingkindness is everlasting. Otherwise, if you do not repent and trust alone in Christ, you will pay for your sins in eternity in hell:
Daniel 12:2-3 "Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. "Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. "If you end up in hell, you may likely feel shame and disgrace for all of eternity: you will likely be flooded with your missed opportunities to repent and come to Christ, and think of all the crimes you have committed. The righteous hatred of God will be felt by you forever. "everlasting contempt"
Mat 18:8-9 "If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. "If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.The loving gracious Lord Jesus spoke about hell with all fierceness and warned His listeners using strong metaphors about plucking out your eye or cutting off your limbs if they cause you to sin. This is not literal, but rather a metaphor for how dangerous sin is and what we must do to avoid it. There will be a form of fire in hell. Real fire can be extinguished or snuffed out. But these eternal flames will never go out and will burn and torment the wicked unrepentant unbelievers forever.
Matthew 25:46 "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."After the final judgement, there is no way out of hell, Jesus made it clear that it is eternal punishment. How can you be made righteous before God? Can he expunge your sin record? Yes! By faith alone in Jesus Christ. If it is true faith, it will be preceded and followed by genuine repentance: a turning away from sin.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.When Jesus uses the word perish here, it means "to destroy utterly". In the context of the entire Bible, it means to suffer and get punished forever for all the crimes you have committed against a Holy God, from the moment of your birth until your death. Lying, stealing, fornicating (sex before marriage), lusting after women, blaspheming taking God’s name in vain: "Oh my God" "God !#$% it" "Jesus Christ!", drunkenness, homosexuality etc. If you have done these things or trust in yourself, and think yourself good and you don’t need a Savior then Jesus Christ, the Judge will judge you and send you to hell forever. But I’m writing to you so that you will avoid this terrible place and your sins can be forgiven because of the cross!
2Thessalonians 1:9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,Again, hell is eternal, there is no getting out, that is why it is wise to take the way of escape now, before it is too late. God is angry at the wicked, He sent His Son out of love. God poured out His anger on Jesus Christ in substitutionary atonement taking your place. Jesus was accredited guilty for all the sins of those who would repent and believe. And God punished Him instead of you. If you reject Jesus Christ, you will endure the punishment for your sins in hell forever.
Matthew 10:28 "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Take note, the devil will not be punishing you if you end up there, but rather God will be inflicting the punishment. He will perpetually destroy your soul and body in hell forever.
Matthew 24:51 and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.The lovely Lord Jesus is speaking yet again of torments for the wicked and hypocrites. If you end up in hell, you will be weeping and gnashing your teeth. I believe the gnashing of teeth will be your expression of how much you hate God.
Matthew 25:30 "Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.The lovely Lord Jesus uses the term "outer darkness" now to describe hell. I do not know if that means that hell will be completely dark. But you will not be able to experience the joys of heaven with Christ.
Luke 16:24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'
Luke 16:27-31 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house— for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"The rich man wanted to warn his family about the torments of hell but it is not possible. Your family only has The Holy Bible and all the servants of Christ who warn about hell. If you end up here, you will desire to warn others about hell and its torments, but will be unable to. You will likely think "If only I heeded the warnings"
Revelation 20:15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.Is your name in the book of life? How do you know? If you died tonight at midnight, where would you go? You should be 100% certain. Do you know Christ? Does He know you? Repent or perish. Trust in Christ alone for your salvation, or end up in the place I have described.
Misconception: God will not be in hell
Answer: He most certainly is in hell. God is omnipresent and everywhere:
Revelation 14:10 he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.According to this, Jesus, God the Son is present in hell.
